Today is World Mental Health day and the focus this year is Schizophrenia.

Schizophrenia is a condition that effects approximately 26 million people worldwide and whilst there is not one set cause, possible factors include changes to chemicals in the brain, stressful experiences or the misuse of drugs.

A person who has schizophrenia may see or hear things that are not there and can easily lose touch with reality. They may experience irrational / unfounded beliefs or appear to act strangely because they are responding to delusions or hallucinations.

To raise awareness ‘tea and talk’ events are being hosted nationwide. Let’s work together to improve our mental health.
