Becoming a Specialist in SpLD’s such as Dyslexia

It is so exciting to be able to announce that in April 2021 The Learning Support Centre (LSC) have enrolled our first cohort on the Level 5 Diploma in Teaching Learners with Dyslexia, SpLDs and Barriers to Literacy.

There is a real need for specialist support in education with dyslexia occurring in 5-10% of the population. (Snowling & Melby-Lervåg, 2016). There are more children and adults being diagnosed with Dyslexia every year, specialist tutors do not have the capacity to provide the support require and schools do not always have the specialists available.

The cohort have already learnt about legislation, theories of dyslexia and initial screening assessments and strategies to implement with learners and are only one third of the way through their 12-month course.

Our course is delivered by and an inspiring group of experienced Specialist Tutors and Assessors who are supporting candidates throughout the course.

LSC are supporting awareness and the need for more specialists within our field. If you would like to find out more about our diploma visit our website
