Hi I’m  Jess Lanham and I am delighted to be part of the new and exciting Ed’s club at The Learning Support Centre

The literacy workshops will be delivered in a fun and creative way using Read Write Inc resources.  The Ruth Miskin Programme (RML) is a highly regarded literacy programme used in many Schools RML has enabled children to fulfil their potential and overcome any barriers to reading and writing.

The sessions will be based around imaginative stories which incorporate key reading and writing skills. In using phonics with this approach, the children taking part in Ed’s club will also develop their speaking and listening skills.

The children will have the opportunity to write their own stories or create an exciting story character of their own!  These can then be shared and celebrated with club and family members.

The aim of the literacy sessions is to build confidence and self-esteem.  We want to ensure that the children have fun and develop at their own pace in a supportive environment.  By inspiring the children through stories and imagination, the children will feel confident to utilise their skills. We also encourage the children to bring along their favourite book from home!
