Well Wishes to Dame Barbara Windsor and her Family
We are very saddened to hear the news today that Dame Barbara Windsor is living with Alzheimer’s Disease, following her diagnosis four years ago. Her husband Scott announced the news today in the hope that speaking out will help other families dealing with loved ones who have this cruel disease.
There are currently 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025 (Alzheimer’s Society 2018). Alzheimer’s not only affects the person living with the disease but also has a huge impact on their family, friends and loved ones. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this disease and research into this area is drastically underfunded.
In a bid to raise money for The Alzheimer’s Society one of our Specialist Mentors, Amy, is taking part in the Jurassic Coast Challenge in July 2018. Amy will be walking 100km within 24 hours from Poole to Bridport. The team have currently raised £1770.00 but are hoping to raise over £2840.0 for this worthwhile cause.
If you would like to sponsor Amy please follow the link below, any donations are very gratefully received !
