LSC – Macmillan Coffee Morning

Macmillan

The Learning Support Centre are looking forward to taking part in the MacMillan Coffee Morning. This nationwide event is taking place on Friday 25th September, however we have decided to hold our event a day earlier on Thursday 24th so that as many as possible of our colleagues, clients, friends and family can attend.

As you are aware, our background is providing support to clients who have dyslexia, anxiety and depression as well as other disabilities in higher education and in the workplace. Events like the coffee morning allow everyone to get together which is a wonderful way to show support and solidarity.

One of our LSC colleagues, Jackie Garner, took part in the Great North Run on Sunday 13th September. She ran with her friend Sophie and they completed the 13.1 mile race in an astonishing 2 hours and 16 minutes. Jackie was number 20, 900 over the finishing line. Olympian Mo Farah competed too (but Jackie didn’t see him 🙂 )

Jackie’s chosen charity is the Leicester Hospitals Charity, she would like the money she raises to be split between the Leicester Children’s Hospital and the Breast Care Centre. She has so far raised over £400 and we’re hoping this value continues to grow.
