Square Mile Awards at De Montfort University
We are really pleased to announce that one of our Mentoring Students, Scott Davies, has won the ‘Going the Extra Mile’ award through the Square Mile Project at De Montfort University. The Square Mile Project encourages DMU staff and students to find innovative ways to use their skills and expertise to create positive change across the entire city of Leicester by providing volunteering opportunities.
Through the Square Mile Project Scott has volunteered for 150 hours this academic year for a variety of 12 different projects including; Excel Yourself and Mathletics ;Playdough for Forest Lodge Primary School ; The Food Hub (Food Bank) and Beaumont Youth Club which helped him to gain a placement for his 3rd year at the E2 Training Centre. Scott has also kindly volunteered for the Learning Support Centre by taking in part in training for new Mentors and sitting on interview panels to provide a Student’s perspective.
Scott’s passion for volunteering and helping others in his local community is commendable, and he has managed this alongside studying for his degree in Business and Management. We would like to congratulate Scott on his well-deserved award, a great achievement!
