Lawyers with disabilities

The Law Society of England and Wales are publicising a new scheme they are running for students.

The Law Society are offering a legal work experience scheme specifically aimed at law students with disabilities.

The Lawyers with Disabilities Division is working with employers in the legal sector to offer work experience opportunities to our members.

A number of employers are taking part in the scheme including law firms in private practice, and in-house departments from the public and private sectors.

The work experience scheme can offer you:

•Work experience for 1-2 weeks from May 2016 onwards (depending on the organisation’s availability).
•Part/full time positions available.
•Discussion of reasonable adjustments, if required. For example, flexible working time.
•Possible paid reasonable travelling expenses. (some firms have indicated that they are able to offer this).

This scheme is available for applicants at any stage of their career in law, whether at student or post qualification level. Please don’t be deterred if you feel you do not have the academic criteria for this scheme.

You will need to be a member of LDD, which is free to join as long as you meet the membership criteria.
