Ruth Miskin’s literacy programme facilitates your child with the tools to develop their reading level, by improving reading comprehension, creative writing skills and self-esteem. Sessions will be based on phonics, literacy, language and spelling. Using Readwrite inc resources developed by Ruth Miskin, which are widely used in school and in line with the National Curriculum. The sessions will be based around imaginative stories which incorporate key reading and writing skills. In using phonics with this approach, the children taking part in Ed’s club will also develop their speaking and listening skills. The children will have the opportunity to write their own stories or create an exciting story character of their own! These can then be shared and celebrated with club and family members. The aim of the literacy sessions is build confidence and self-esteem. We want to ensure that the children have fun and develop at their own pace in a supportive environment. By inspiring the children through stories and imagination, the children will feel confident to utilise their skills. We also encourage the children to bring along their favourite book from home! At the end of the course you are welcome to discuss your child’s progress and recommendations.
Hi my name is Jess Lanham and I am a qualified teacher who has worked in education for over 10 years.
Since qualifying I have worked in primary and secondary schools and as an SEN teacher. My specialisms are reading and literacy acquisition.
I am a qualified Reading Recovery Teacher, trained in Ruth Miskin Literacy and Phonics. I am committed to promoting self-confidence and well-being in children.
My favourite ice cream is mint choc chip and if I could go back to school I would study art and design.
When can I do this?
Jess will be delivering the literacy programme as on Wednesdays for ages 7-12 years starting on the 29th July with the last session on the 19th August.
